Laboratories are energy intensive, using five to ten times more energy per square foot than an average office building, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). ComEd can help with incentives to install energy-efficient technologies, such as high performance fume hoods and occupancy controls, low pressure air filters, LED lighting products, control systems and a range of ENERGY STAR® laboratory equipment.
US EPA's Laboratories for the 21st Century program estimates that most labs can reduce energy use by 30 to 50 percent.
