Data centers are not just multi-megawatt facilities powering the “cloud.” There are modest-sized, distributed IT rooms found in most commercial and industrial facilities. Data center spaces can consume between 100 to 200 times more electricity than standard office spaces. With such high energy consumption, they are prime targets for energy-efficiency measures.
Whether you are looking at a new or an existing data center, you can dramatically reduce its energy consumption with the right combination of IT infrastructure and facilities strategies. The ComEd Energy Efficiency Program can help you identify energy-saving opportunities for your data center. With ComEd Energy Efficiency Program incentives in the mix you can maximize energy-efficiency and ensure a reasonable return on your investment.
Program opportunities to significantly improve data center energy efficiency include:
Call 1-855-433-2700 and request a Facility Assessment. A ComEd energy engineer will assess your facility and equipment for potential electrical savings during a two-hour site walkthrough.
Within a month, you will receive a high-level summary recommending energy-saving changes and upgrades that can improve the energy efficiency of your business.
After you have decided which energy-saving improvements you want to make, consult the ComEd Energy Efficiency Service Provider Directory to find a contractor who can provide the products and services you need and help you apply for ComEd Energy Efficiency Program incentives.

* Five years ago, the energy consumption profile for an average data center was much different. Technological advancements and a growing list of energy-efficient base practices has enabled today’s data centers operators to satisfy increasing IT load and uptime requirements, while maximizing energy efficiency. How does your facility measure up?
Funds are limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Effective January 1, 2018, the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program is responsible for verifying that an Energy Efficiency Service Provider or installing contractor is certified by the ICC for the installation of applicable measures prior to any incentive or rebate payout. Beginning June 1, 2019, ComEd will be responsible for verifying that certified Energy Efficiency Service Providers or installing contractors are recertified with the ICC. Payment will be withheld if the installing contractor is not re-certified by June 1st each year. This does not apply to customers who choose to self-install the applicable measure(s). For more information concerning the ICC certification and re-certification requirements, instructions and rules can be found at: ICC EE Installer Certification.
